Our client is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join their team and build the next generation of hardware wallets. This is a critical role where you will be at the intersection of hardware and security.
Location: APJ countries (Remote)
Key responsabilities
- Develop and optimize firmware for secure transactions, NFC communication, and power efficiency.
- Work on low-level hardware drivers for our MCU (Apollo3 Blue Plus), including the touch display, battery controller, and Secure Element.
- Implement custom features and assist with user interface implementations.
- Actively strengthen firmware security through defensive programming and memory safety.
- Participate in code reviews, security audits, and testing to ensure high standards.
- Collaborate with external vendors and other teams, including hardware engineers and app developers.
- Work on secure boot and cryptographic operations to resist attacks.
- Review pull requests and manage our issue tracker.
- Lead firmware architectural design and development in collaboration with our CTO.
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, with experience designing scalable embedded firmware architectures.
- Hands-on experience with NFC communication protocols (ISO 14443, ISO 15693).
- Experience leading firmware architecture design and low-level driver development.
- Strong debugging skills using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS), preferably FreeRTOS.
- Proven track record of delivering firmware for commercial embedded products.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and GitHub.
- Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work in a remote team.
Nice to have
While not required, these qualifications would make you an even stronger candidate:
- A deep understanding of secure elements (Infineon) and secure bootloaders.
- Experience with symmetric and asymmetric cryptography (e.g., ECDSA, EdDSA) and encrypted protocols.
- Previous work on hardware wallets, secure elements, or financial security devices.
- Experience with JavaCard.
- A background in contributing to or working on open-source security firmware projects.
